TO SHAPE THE FUTURE

The MET fund is dedicated to providing early seed funding to qualified MITdesignX startups from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and to supporting venture design education and entrepreneurship at the MIT School of Architecture and Planning.

The funding strategy is focused on the application of design and design thinking for complex problem-solving and the discovery of high impact solutions to address critical challenges facing the future of cities and the human environment.

The portfolio companies are interdisciplinary MITdesignX teams operating at the intersection of design, science, and technology. The teams include designers, architects, planners, artists, scientists, engineers, business majors and computer scientists from the MIT community and their collaborators around the world.

Investments are made post-graduation in scalable high impact solutions capable of shaping the future by improving the quality of life in cities around the world.

TO MIT DESIGNX

TO SUPPORT forward thinking entrepreneurship education

Drawing on the power of design for complex problem solving and value based innovation, an integral part of the MET fund’s mission is to support the development of venture design education. To meet that goal, the fund will gift 20 percent of its profits to the MITdesignX accelerator to advance development of forward thinking entrepreneurship education.
